Rob Hastings is Precision Medicine Portfolio Lead in Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism at AstraZeneca.
Rob is a physician and completed his medical degree, general adult, and specialist training in Clinical Genetics in Bristol. He has a clinical and research interest in inherited cardiovascular conditions. He has a DPhil in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Oxford and is an Honorary Consultant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
As well as the NHS he has previously worked as a health and life science strategy consultant at Monitor Deloitte; at Genomics England setting up the genomic medicine centres for the 100,000 Genomes Project; developing population sequencing projects across Europe and the Middle East at Illumina; supporting diagnostics development and adaptive trials support for SMEs in the UK at the Precision Medicine Catapult; and as an independent consultant wrote the initial proposal for the Million European Genome Alliance (MEGA) project that has been ratified across 15 European member states to support genomics research collaboration.
